Joyland Amusement Park Wichita Kansas...No Joy Anymore Posted by: mdpetty53
Video duration: 260 seconds Joyland Amusement Park in Wichita, Kansas. Abandoned...trashed. ..sad images. Tools...Canon 7D. Kessler Pocket Dolly. Lots of different glass. Graded with Magic Bullet Colorista II and MB Looks. Really pushed the color since places like this are hyper-colorful in people's memories. I lived in Wichita from 1975 to 1980. I was 5 in 1975. Joyland was always a big deal to go to when I was in grade school. If you brought your report card from school they would give you a certain amount of free ride tickets based on your grades. I you tubed Joyland on a whim to see if it still existed. This video almost made me cry. Such great memories and such a tragic sight watching this video. Although the video is tragic it still was great? to see. Well done!

I remember the first time I ever went to Joyland. I was 6 or 7 and my grandma took my sister and I to her company picnic. I had a blast! It is such a shame to see it in its present state. Hopefully the restoration project happens and I can make new? memories with my son. Great job on the video!

debt, the park didn't make enough money to cover the debt.....The park was showing its age when the Nelsons shut it down in mid-2004, with many attractions requiring extensive repairs. Nelson family and temporarily reopened it with plans for a? complete refurbishing. Nevertheless, financial problems continued to plague the park, and it did not re-open after the 2006 season.

Agreed. It is stunning. Sadly, the film would not fare well in the? 'film festival' circuit, as there are no Gay Cowboys eating Pudding (etc).

This film is stunning, both in its execution of shots and its high quality. A masterpiece !!!? You should enter this in one of the international film festivals, (such as the Berlin Filmfest) under the catogory "short films". Watch this film without any sound. It works better with the combination of eerie silence and the magical haunting visual images. I say again, a masterpiece. Thanks for sharing.

I have so many wonderful childhood memories from thiss park...My husband and I drove into the parking lot sometime last year and looked around a bit...I must admit it brought a tear to my eye seeing it like this. You did a really nice presentation! Just wondered how? you managed to do it since it's all fenced off and NO TRESSPASSING signs everywhere.
