We use large yogurt containers for freezing sauce, stock etc. They are prefect size and if they break? because it's cold it doesn't matter because it was free.

If you by an item that's in a container that's microwavable save it because then you can store left overs and microwave them as? you please. The container for liquid creamer I use for powder creamer.

tbh i dont think my family have ever brought a container. we have a corner cabinet thingo witch is full of containers? food used to be in. there may be a few things from the shops but all things that were won at bingo by my old folks years ago.

About spice containers: I use jam (or marmalade) glasses for my spices. I think the glass preserves the aroma? better than plastic.

Another great container is the giant popcorn tins at Channukah time. After you eat the? popcorn you have a big giant bucket for flour so you dont have to worry about the bags getting ripped.

Although a good tip that nearly everyone practices,don't take it to extremes... this is exactly why my mother? has been seriously considered as a case study on 'Hoarders'....she won't throw away anything! Open a cabinet, here comes the Cool Whip Container Avalanche! And if you take something home with you in one of the many various plethora of containers..."Now I want that back..." :eek: OK, Mom :p

My mom/family has done this all my life. I always open the margerine or yogurt containers only to find whatever left over Indian or dish my mom had made in there instead. Great? tip though for those who never thought to reuse containers. Reusing spice containers with the shaker tops is a lifesaver, especially when you buy spices in bulk/in bags. .
