I think I got off on the wrong foot when I said I don't know that much about Islam; I know quite a bit about it's history and have a good understanding of what the Qur'an outlines, but I've never extensively read or studied it. I don't approve of? Islam any more than the next guy, but I don't think anyone should hold against him that he was brought up an Islam, he is clearly capable of rational thought and making his own decisions through his campaign, and has no "agenda".

So? Buddhism, for example, is VERY different from, say, Judaism, and yet followers of both? religions still adhere to varying degrees of dedication - mental, and in practice, to said religions. Especially in North America. What SPECIFIC instances of this man's campaign lead you to believe that he is acting under the direct influence of a religious dogma?

I don't really need to know anything about Islam to affirm that this man isn't a batshit insane religious extremist. As an atheist? I realize that religious scripture really holds no bearing on reality and it's interpretation. Does every Muslim kill gays? Nope. Does every Christian follow the rule of loving his enemy? No, I've talked to enough ignorant, bible following Christian Calgarians to know that every Christian does NOT, in fact, love his enemy. QED.

Humans are organic creatures, one human will not follow a doctrine to the exact same degree as every other human. Amongst it's "followers" (even people brought up with the religion with very little affirmation or real dogma) there is just as much variance in the level to which people take the religion seriously as? there is in any other religion. The guy does not push a religious agenda and shows passion for improving the city.

Please stop posting asinine comments, we're not selecting him because he is Muslim. We do not care that he is Muslim. We want a person who can fill the position of mayor with an acceptable level of aptitude, ambition, experience, and knowledge. His experience? and ability to take on the position does not coincide with his religion, and you are naive to think that selecting him will be like "telling people it's ok to kill gay people, beat women, hate jews" and so on. Read a book.

You're doing the Glenn Beck thing, where you look at an ideology and consider what negative outcomes prevail when the ideology? is pushed to SAVAGELY RIDICULOUS degrees of extremity. From what I can tell, Nenshi is vastly more interested in improving Calgary than he is in pushing Islam. I think you need to watch more of his videos, this man is quite level headed and has good intentions.

I don't know all that much about Islam; I am an atheist. I am aware that all forms of religion and creationism are detrimental to human development. I support Nenshi because he has a good idea what is going on in the city and how to improve it.? If he's Islamic, that's okay, I don't really care about that, as long as he keeps it out of politics. what is important is he seems to be more ambitious and have a better grasp on reality than a lot of these other candidates.

Your approach to addressing the needs of City Hall is refreshing and reflective of the management style that will bring unity and ACTION! You have my vote! I cannot understand why Calgarians want to vote for Barb Higgins who is only qualified to give the news! What qualifies her to take on an important role to MANAGE a city when she has never managed! Cont...If you can invest in those Parking Machines, then you can invest in those Scanners. I have seen numerous times that people getting away with excuses like forgot to validate tickets etc. I have forgotten a couple of times without? getting caught...just end this wholes situation but making people do what they are suppose to do.

The idea of trusting people that they would buy passes to ride trains is a FAIL. CONT'D....Even if the cost per home increased 4x what Naheed speaks of there would still be a chasm. What concrete ideas does Mr. Nenshi and team or anyone for that matter have to reduce the cost of inner city re-development, to truly provide the atypical family a viable choice thereby reducing the growth on the fringes? Again even if 40k was added to the burb house there would still be over 300K price difference on a home that is 500? sq.ft smaller.
