Japanese Mall - Anime Show Posted by: SLCovington
Video duration: 524 seconds Global video hits: 2881 If I knew how to describe this, I would. During a trip to Okinawa, we ventured through one of its huge shopping malls and wandered upon this show about to start. Curiosity got the better of us and we stayed to watch. I had to video tape it so people would believe me when I say, Japanese people are crazy. Great job! I like the Japanese influence. Red and white are with the Japanese? flag so I think it would be a great match. Again great job and enjoy!

I would love to see the finished quilt. I to want to make an? oriental quilt and have the fabric but am still deciding on the pattern. I have one in mind but I have to really study it before I cut any fabric. I really like the idea of the design wall.

thank you so much for your words of wisdom...i? would love to see some of your quilts..i bet they are beautiful.

I think it will be beautiful. I agree with an earlier post (victoriaev) about the red being too prominent. I think a muted beige would be good there and you could maybe use the red in the border. Either way, if this is your first, my best advice is to just? do it! Afterwards, you can stand back and review your work. Your friend will be appreciative. ((I quilt too.))

thank you so much...i appreciate your words of encouragement....i have relied upon your videos and Marguerita's videos to help me learn how to quilt. I think the insecurity comes from not knowing if? what I am doing is right.

Personally, I think the colors look great! I think the combination, solid colors bring out the colors of the beige squares. I, too, am never sure of the colors I use, but somehow it always comes out looking pretty good. Play with them - and I know you'll find a combination? that you're comfortable with.,.

thank you so much...the blocks are 10 inches...the applique was a last minute addition...i am headed to fabric store to? try and salvage this quilt due to xmas in 20 days.

I love the fabrics. I am always unsure of my color choices too! How large are your pieces? I love the colors you have. If you are unsure of the red block, remember that you could add some different color thread to it when you do the quilting. If you want to be brave, you can use threads (or a permanent marker) to put a symbol in the red squares. I? found books and symbols online of Chinese words and I use them on my quilts. Happy quilting, Marguerita

Thank you so much, I will have to try that and thanks for the suggestions.?

I will rearrange blocks and? try it that way.

P.S. --- check out some videos on youtube with "square in a square" tag words. One to check out is "Quilt Square in a Square" by jemerap. Another alternative is to sew? the red triangles around the black squares. I'll be checking back to see the finished product :)

what BEEutiful blocks! Your colors are? great! I'm thinking that the red block could be not so prominent. You need the red but instead of just a red solid block perhaps sew red triangles around the light color fabric and arrange the blocks around the black ones to get a secondary pattern. Just my 2 cents
