although this is a good metaphor, the album is about drugs, except ironically, "the drugs don't work" which is about a family member dying. And the video more reflects society not caring about people as, at the time, everyone was meant to be drugged up (including alchohol). All about trying to make money to spend on drugs, and then relising everyone is in? a state, and despite the short term happyness, it brings long term unhappyness, hence bitter sweet syphony that is life.
