The melody is originally a song named: "Vårsøg" By Henning Sommero. However Alexander used the melody and wrote? a new text to it. The original is a song about spring, however Alex' song is more about someone he wouldn't want to lose.

You are wrong. The melody is taken from a norwegian folk song from the 70's: watch?v=xu9t5ii0yJk Maybe more famous is Sigmund Groven's version of the song: watch?v=mScERn8MnGg 'A Better Day' is a song based on Groven's? version, originally performed by the norwegian group Multicyde: watch?v=84wEDXmi4q0 Anyway. He didn't compose it, but he (probably) wrote the lyrics himself.

: yes, it is composed by Alex, and you're right that it replicates some parts of "a? better day", but it is normal in composing a song that you get influence from some other melodies, ex: lots of Yanni's songs are inspired by Vivaldi's four seasons.
