I think there are books about designing synths, but I can't tell you any titles off hand. Of course, to design your own synthesizers from scratch requires real electronics knowledge. There are several companies that? sell kits, and that might be more practical. I'm sure Google will find those for you.

What is a good hardware synth to buy? I traded in? my nord 2x lead for a Juno Di and miss the little guy, I'm thinking about getting the nord wave(when I can afford it).

@Dectheboner? Harmonics are also called overtones. A single violin A note at 440 Hz also has content at 880 Hz, 1320 Hz, and other multiples of 440. Search Harmonic at Wikipedia.
