I'm happy to be respectful to religious people, but beliefs don't get special respect. The pope believes that if someone rapes, then they are the victim since they fell to sin. I don't respect that belief. I respect you absolutely. I don't respect your belief in things? that are so obviously invented however.
By: bobtg. on 26 May 12, 05:44:40
Not to mention CONSTANT appeals to? authority.
By: awinterb. on 26 May 12, 05:34:44
57:12 Hitchens is like, "Wow. I'm? debating an imbecile".
By: mewsic156. on 26 May 12, 04:42:09
Debate? this is? more like a religious bloopers
By: VitalVampyr. on 26 May 12, 04:19:03
The teleological argument is? easily refuted by the anthropic principle. teleological: "It is improbable that we should exist!" anthropic: "Well, we appear to have beaten the odds then."
By: gerby90. on 26 May 12, 03:11:14
LOL I loved the? cybord bit xD
By: keelie300. on 26 May 12, 02:47:56
Wow, I can't believe Craig calls himself a "professional philosopher" then starts? his argument with a logical fallacy and misplaced burden of proof.
By: gerby90. on 26 May 12, 02:36:43
"As if somehow that makes their claims less reliable than yours" Yes, yes it most certainly does. Do you trust the words of an illiterate, highly superstitious, uneducated person with no knowledge of the world beyond his herd over the? words of an educated person from the 21st century? For your sake I hope you don't..
By: altaris2011. on 26 May 12, 00:33:10
it follows logically that... bullshit? bullshit
By: jamaicanification. on 25 May 12, 23:58:36
I am civil and respectful when im speaking to people who are civil and respectful to me. But if i make a point defending my religion, and then? someone basically makes comments insinuating im a moron just because im religious, you really expect me to stay civil? I speak civilly to atheists who dont go around bashing or mocking my beliefs. Mutual respect

If you want to? learn about evolution I am sure there are fantastic Dutch books on the subject at your local library. Looking to YT comment thread for reliable information is stupid in any language.

I'd like to share something interesting, search "something from nothing laser space", should be the top search result. It's an article about how something (matter) actually DOES come from nothing (not 100% confirmed yet). Think of a vacuum as a sea? of tiny 0s. Under the right conditions, a 0 will split into a 1 and a -1 (matter and antimatter). This happens constantly and usually they cancel each other instantly, but sometimes the 1s and -1s linger and accumulate. Thus, the universe was created.

I didn't think i? would get an answer lol.

"What he uses are deductive arguments where the logical flows necessarily from the premises." Not really. That's what he SAYS he does. Just look at the KCA for example The deductive argment goes no further than conclude that the universe has a cause. To get from that, to the conclusion that this cause must be an omniscient personal Being with a mind and a will (curiously anthropomorphic qualities) Craig purports to? appeal to scientific arguments - ones which no scientist actually accepts.
By: oOMuzicBoxOo. on 25 May 12, 21:00:12
No, you're? just too stupid to get the point.
By: BiHLionHeart. on 25 May 12, 20:27:04
It AMAZES me, even after watching this debate three times, how Dr. Craig is continuously saying that Hitchens hasn't stated any good arguments that god does not exist. That's just playing it dumb and making a wining impression on the audience. As Hitchens has stated numerous times, you CAN'T disprove the claims the religious are making. They make extraordinary claims, they must prove those claims.? Substitute god with yeti and try and prove that a yeti doesn't exist. Impossible.
By: lekmon5555. on 25 May 12, 19:14:19
Agreed. Evidence? and Proof are different things. I am not sure how many things in this world are actually proven.
By: lekmon5555. on 25 May 12, 19:10:12
That is usually his tactic, bashing religion and talking about crimes religious people committed instead of making good arguments as to why people should chose a view of the world that excludes any idea of a mind when? it obviously appears there is one, but i guess its difficult to go against a philosopher on this type of discussion, so maybe that is his best strategy.
By: lekmon5555. on 25 May 12, 19:04:45
Agree, the idea of theism disturbs some i guess....something or someone beyond our power doesn't sound too conforting? i guess.
By: r0ll3dd. on 25 May 12, 18:52:29
(cont'd)... Equally we have good philosophical reasons, such as the absurdity of an actual infinity existing in reality, to suggest that the universe? had a beginning.
By: r0ll3dd. on 25 May 12, 18:51:58
I think you're mistaking 'evidence' for 'proof'? -- watch out for that fallacy! We have good scientific reason to think that the universe began to exist. The Standard Model in cosmology predicts an absolute beginning of the universe. This can be supported scientific evidence such as the ''redshift'' in light from distant galaxies as well as evidence from the second law of thermodynamics -- that unless energy is being fed into a system, that system will become increasingly disorderly. (cont'd)...
By: r0ll3dd. on 25 May 12, 18:51:21
(cont'd)... ''none of them are based on anything we see in reality''. That is simply not true. Look at the first premise in the KCA that whatever 'begins to exist has a cause'. Are you suggesting that our metaphysical intuition that something cannot come? from nothing is false?
By: r0ll3dd. on 25 May 12, 18:50:32
Craig doesn't offer scientific hypothesises in the arguments that he makes (aside from the argument regarding the? resurrection of Jesus). What he uses are deductive arguments where the logical flows necessarily from the premises. Craig's arguments could be refuted if compelling evidence came to light that would serve to negate one of those premises (in a given argument), so far, none such compelling reason has been offered. (cont'd)..
By: r0ll3dd. on 25 May 12, 18:49:41
You can not demonstrate how my usage of the straw man was incorrect.? Interesting.
By: ivixeg. on 25 May 12, 18:36:26
Every single argument for the existance of god is a logical fallacy. And it seems like someone's been using vote bots... and btw not? believing in god isn't any kind of world view.
