oh..found it? ..
By: Aviajamin. on 24 May 12, 20:06:40
Why is a lot of my writtings? disappearing?
By: Aviajamin. on 24 May 12, 20:04:02
Ha ha, and I didnīt mention your point, because I thought it is? obvious that positive thinking makes is more possible to see oppurtunities.Oh well, I guess we just got a lesson in how misunderstandings can happend. Of cause I am also all in for empowerment, I just whant some ethics to go along with is. This life approach really doesn't make us into anything else than opputunists, if we donīt do that. Empowerment should be based on values - not on ability to enter open doors before others does.
By: fragman08. on 24 May 12, 19:52:53
Of course it isn't their fault, I'm not? saying it is. I didn't mention your point because I thought it too obvious to bother affirming, you're right. Sure. There is a trend of blaming the victims, I know. But at the same time the 'victims' should find a way to empower themselves in spite of circumstances beyond their control, and self defeatist thinking does them no good. For their own sake, not for the sake of other people's feelings.
By: Aviajamin. on 24 May 12, 19:45:31
What I really donīt like, is the guilt that this thought about positive thinking is spreading. An ex:According to this thought, it is fat peoples own fault that they are fat, so now they do not only have to carry the burden of extra? weight, social jugdement and all the difficulties that comes along with being heavy, no, they also have to recognize that they are sinners, for not thinking happy enough.I think we should rather support and accept eachother, than deside what is the best lifeapporach
By: Aviajamin. on 24 May 12, 19:33:28
This saying, that tells us to be happy and see opportunities all the time, where does it come from anyways? Is it a product of a cultural grounding thought, that we need to be productive and happy or else we do not? get the best out of life? Why? Why canīt we cry or be angry and unproductive for a while, and let others carry us, untill we get well and can carry others? When a door closes, why is it not okay to feel the pain that comes with it, and let it have an influence on our life for a while?
By: Aviajamin. on 24 May 12, 19:26:17
I only ignored your point because you ignored mine... I do agree on your point - but my point is, that even if you are doing everything you can to be possitive and see opportunities all the time, life can be a bitch sometimes, and I do not think? it is very helpfull to those who experience unemployment, death in family, rape, hurricaines, depressions, mental illness, illnes in generel, ec. - to make it nearly a tabu to say "this is shit", before they sayi "Shit happends - now lets move on...."
By: fragman08. on 24 May 12, 17:40:38
good job totally ignoring my point.? I never said thoughts are able to magically rectify any situation we find ourselves in, I said 'positive' thought can lead us to become aware of opportunities around us. When such opportunities do not exist, as in the case of 'starving children' (presumably in third world nations) Then obviously no amount of thought will help. You are ever so disingenuous. Try again, derp.
By: Aviajamin. on 24 May 12, 17:35:16
I get your point, and I? wish you the best of luck with telling starving children that perspective...
By: fenderkid6. on 24 May 12, 13:57:57
A lot of the skepticism here is rather misplaced. I doubt any rational person would say thoughts directly influence reality. However, the way one perceives the world undeniably affects one's interaction with it, this includes actions an individual might take, and where it would lead them. Single minded determination? often succeeds because it permeates our life and we subconsciously and consciously find ways to realise our goals.
By: fenderkid6. on 24 May 12, 13:46:01
Positive thought is crucial in that it enables us to take action. If we believe our actions are futile, then? we are doomed to self-defeat.
By: AlexRiderRocks. on 23 May 12, 17:35:40
Agree at some? points, disagree in others.
By: Aviajamin. on 23 May 12, 12:13:45
Agreed, it affect your approach to the world and therefor a positive approach can increase the ability to see possibilites...But if you do not succeed anyways, you canīt say it is because yout thinking is wrong.? But I think aswell that we understand eachother. My point is only that there is a world around you that works independent from your thoughts...and it seems like you get that point ;-)
By: TheLadyShiori. on 23 May 12, 11:28:48
Your attitude does affect your actions--as well as it affects the people around you. Thinking can? impact the environment; but I do understand where you're coming from as well. :)
By: Aviajamin. on 23 May 12, 07:23:43
Of cause it is a nice thing to be happy, but if happiness is on the cost of what is real - then no thank you....You might as well do drugs? then...
By: Aviajamin. on 23 May 12, 07:20:30
That is a really bad argument. Positive and negative thinking has both consequenses, if it is followed up with action or not. But that is not the point here. The point is, that you? can not blame your way of thinking for everything that is happening to you. And you can not control what happends to you, with your thinking...
By: fullfist. on 22 May 12, 10:48:12
A strong mind will? naturally take action when focusing on something. action is an extension of the mind. . Only a delusional mind thinks it's focusing on something while not really having the willpower to carry it out. Mostly those are thoughts implanted by an outside source and have no honest power. . See what i mean? .
By: blackdeckbox. on 20 May 12, 11:48:47
Not really, you need a balance. Positive thinkers DO look at problems, but in a positive way. Ipod is coming out! Even though our profit is lower than as expected, I believe Ipod2 will generate better profits! But how? Negative thinkers will go Ipod is a disaster! We are losing money everyday over this product, we should try a different approach. Both are good, it's only when? you become TOO happy or TOO depressed that it becomes delusional.
By: Simmy56. on 18 May 12, 23:34:17
You cannot attribute the financial crisis to positive thinking and ideology. Organizational inertia, power and ambition, as well as a political environment? which permitted risk taking are all much larger factors. Wall street executives did not make? risks and ignore bad omens because someone told them to have a "positive" attitude. Rather, our cognitive limits in thinking, social pressures such as group think, and a financial system which rewards risks are much larger contributing factors.
By: yrbabuena. on 18 May 12, 12:06:19
Happiness is a feeling. Feelings just are. We? can't "choose" feelings. Our feelings simply surface as whatever they are. Pos. thinking isn't really an attempt to think differently, but to "feel different" than one does. Therefore, it is phoney.
By: yrbabuena. on 18 May 12, 12:04:08
I consider "positive thinking" to be negative, & "negative thinking" to be positive. Pos. thinkers don't like looking at problems. Neg. thinkers not only look at problems, we dwell on them, to *solve* the problems. Therefore, we're the ones who come up w/solutions! Pos. thinkers? let probs. persist! (Some neg. thinkers dwell w/no intention finding solutions. They are probably expressing grief indirectly, & that should be respected/supported, to allow the person to resolve it in their own time.)
By: jakevikoren. on 18 May 12, 01:14:15
I think often time people are not suggesting delusion. If I am let go from my job, yes it is? foolish to pretend that it never happened. However, why not accept the reality that you were laid off and choose to be happy regardless?
By: Xziro3. on 17 May 12, 19:42:07
she talks on a thin line.. to those who do not truly understand positive thinking. I think you're right, she's only against the people that become docile and naive when they think positively. telling them to wake? the fuck up!
By: MrJmanjenks. on 17 May 12, 01:34:51
she didnt spend enough time talking about? her whole collective power idea, you cant just introduce an idea like that and then end the video!
