I first heard "Life on Mars" in an IHOP, and tried my hardest to pick out a? few lyrics, so I could look them up later. I spent like half an hour trying to find the song, and when I finally found it I listened to it for hours.

Not bad for a gardener from Hull. Match made in heaven Bowie/Ronson. Apparently, Bowie would say "Mick put on this garish costume please, ch-ch-change your platforms" and Mick would say "Fuckin 'Ell Bowie, are you sure about this sequins catsuit?" Non-verbatim however reading Ronsons biog, it said he used to feel like a pillock sometimes dressed like Major MF? Tom every night. Two musical geniuses!!!!

lol, it's hard to pick a favorite, I suppose it depends on what sort of mood you're in. I'd? have to say it was The rise and Fall for me just because it was the first album I listen to back in 72 when I was 8, older brother & sis got me into this. I've been a HUGE Bowie fan since then. I say The Rise and Fall because you have to go home with the one that brought you to the dance as it were, peace:)

It was my understanding that Bowie wrote this song about the youthful adventures he had with his older brother, who was going insane even then and later tragically killed himself... thus I read? this "slipping away" as a metaphorical slipping away of the mind,

Woah, the album is worth? buying for "Life on Mars" alone! It must've been a major step forward for him compared to the albums before.

Truish, but you should respect all of the songs? the artist puts on their album even if their different styles.

Weird that he does an Elvis impression for 'together than alone' in the Dylan song. Oh and he? never did anything in his career better than the 'choruses' in the Bewlay Brothers, which are no less than portals into some sinister other dimension of the space and time.

Ronson's string arrangements are effing incredible. Not bad for a blokey hard rock axeman/park groundsman. Among a million other production joys? is the depth between the bass drum and the handclaps as the Oh! You Pretty Things chorus detonates.
