Rubbish, I know a lot about Windows Phone, I write for allaboutwindowsphone after all. I realise that virtual control keys isn't possible in Windows Phone 7.5, but there's no reason why it couldn't be added at a later date. And I've just said I'm a huge fan of the? 800, so how does that stack up with me being 'totally biased against WP'??

Umm this is total crap. He is totally biased? against windows phone. First, about the capacitive buttons on Windows Phone, you should understand that windows phones customization is very limited, especially core components. And who would genderize a phone, oh wait, this freak unfortunately. You're putting too much personal preference on a device that this doesn't even count as a review anymore. Also, do more research on windows phone, not just admire tiny useless features on android.

Hi steve, i am a big fan of on screen controls for most of the mobile usage cases. Its onky when you are browsing that u tend to want a 'full screen' without the black bar containing the virtual keys . Moreover in some custom roms? like AKOP, u can adjust the size of the keys and hence the height of the black strip which is cool

Not quite, but they're getting there. Personally, I'd go for the 808 in the special case that adds the camera glass protection...? 8-) And yes, thinner is worse for camera 'feel'... but not much we can do about that now?!

Are cameras phones today up to par with compact digital cameras ? Let me know what you think. I personally think smart phones are fiddly to hold when taking photos or shooting video. Compact digital cameras offer a much more secure hold. Camera phones have no lens protection nowadays ( that means wiping the lens with your polluted T-shirt before every photo? ) Compact digital cameras take better photos overall. Just my humble opinion.

There are many reports from users on GSMARENA that the Nokia N8 reboots on its own and crashes a lot after the Belle update , that's the only think that's making me a little hesitant of buying the Nokia N8. To be honest I'm buying it? not only for its monster camera , but for its excellent Dolby speakers , its impeccable build quality and its all round practicality , it's indeed the "Swiss army knife " of the smart phone world as Steve mentioned before.

This review confuses me. I understand that the 800 has a better design because of the curved screen, but how does that make it better than the 900? I don't see phones as a gender. I personally think the larger bezel looks better than a screen squished into the smallest phone possible, and? the 800 wastes more space with the buttons being a little higher from the bottom than the 900 is. This review seems mostly to be your personal opinion, but there's nothing wrong with that. I like my Lumia 900.

Thoroughly enjoyed? the video Steve,& am torn between getting the 900 & sticking with the 800, the bigger screen really appeals to me as I still find text an issue on the smaller screen and think WP lends itself to a larger screen. Also quite impressed with the sound quality on the sample video from 900, same hardware as 800? Thought the gyroscopic menu keys on your Nexus were cool and agree with you,an idea that needs implementing on more handsets. Laughed when I appeared on your feed twice :-D

Neither the X Window System nor the GNU libraries are or ever were part of the Linux kernel. They just run on top of it. The X Window System really isn't the best choice for a touchscreen phone either. If you need to use C or C++ code It's possible to use the Native Development Kit to port it to? Android.

I admit. Androids were amazing for me. Until I continuously lag, 6 month late firmware updates, no customer support, taskbar won't drag, customization apps screw your phone up within 2 weeks, reformatting every few months, slow/lag, etc. I love the customization just it's been so buggy for me. I had my phone call people without it even showing it's calling someone... that kind of ticks me off. Has the 2.3+ been better? for anyone?

Thus, if the face unlock doesn't see ur face for few seconds - you can then enter this "pattern" or pin, or password -? whatever. don't blame what you don't know! the access to the phone exists all the time.

My theory is that? IOS doesn't really do Multitasking. I'ts some kind of IRQ triggered process handling. Linux could do this aswell... but such a "technique" needs the OS to be strongly limited to the user for security's sake.

Smells like, IOS isn't really doing Multitasking. It seems to handle "big interrupt routines" instead. You'd only need? to set the interrupt for the user interface higher than the "Multitasking" , and leave the Interrupt fast enough. Anything in "buffer" will not be disturbed, but the user will always see things running fluent then.

Yes the hovering pen setting would be bloody handy for draw something because draw something seems to be highly inaccurate on the Note. God damn I wish Samsung would hurry up and bring out ICS for everyone! Especially if it is? quicker, less laggy and runs the phones RAM better.

You don't understand.? I have an unlocked international galaxy note bought from amazon. What do the carriers have to with it. That is the only reason I bought the unlock phone international note-- to avoid dealing with the carriers. There are no excuses for people with unlocked phones not to have the update.
