"If you cannot explain it simply and effectively, then you do not understand it well enough." This is not intended as an insult to the drummer. He is really onto something here! I think he needs to revisit his rudiments, because what he is referring to as 'Gospel Chops', are actually rudiments! RLKK = RLRR (paradiddle), RLRLKK? = RLRLRR (double paraddidle).

all he's doing, and he explained it, is just changing the patterns on the hand and feet, it is the same idea but interchanging the hands and? feet. For example, he first said R L B B, later he did, RLRB, or LBRL, or LLRB, etc. and he moved it around the different toms, don't keep it on the same tom, move on hand to the snare, the other to a tom, them a large tom then small tom, etc. just move the same pattern all over the place, it takes practice. Maybe he was not clear on it but that's it.

I think you should explain the sticking pattern, because when you go into the? "Gospel Chops" way you're adding more notes than when you just explain the basic lick.

Let me just add...I thihnk this guy is a f***in sweet drummer!! And in most of these vids he explains stuff well!? It was just this lil bit that went a bit crazy without an explanation. But yea...Jerohn is crazy good!!

He's just going in there over peoples heads without correctly explaining what he's doing. He didn't just change the dynamics. He added grace notes (quiet notes) after the first 2 accents...so? at 4:05 he played RL r l KK....rl being the quieter notes. He then also plays variations on this with RL r l l K. Just work with numbers. Take groups of 6 and put accents and kicks in..see what you come up with...such as RllRLK or RKLRll or.. RKKLRl etc it's just maths & dynamics...& creativity..& taste ;)

Good drummer but bad teacher.... I have no idea what you are doing to make the chop "dynamic". It sounds like you are actually doing a? whole new timing. The slow version is about 20 times too fast to actually see what you are doing.
