I'm only 15 and I covered Drifting last year. Go out buy the tabs off of his website and look up some tutorial videos. This is great! That roller coaster was even rated by a group of coaster "junkies" as one of the top 10 wooden frame roller coasters in the country. Very sturdy, but looks it's age, hence part of the? scare. I noticed the sign at the top of the first hill is missing, the one that said "stay seated". Brings back a lot of good memories. Joyland Restoration Project is attempting to reopen the park. By the way, the park is way off on the west side of the street on South Hillside, south of Pawnee.

i was there during the summer, the layout is Disneyland. the entrance "road" is lined with shops of themes like Hello Kitty, Ultraman, Doraemon, Transformers(movie version), etc... one of the sections and? the center castle are based completely off WoW. most of the better rides aren't completed yet. not to mention it's about 45 minutes drive outside the city. if you do have to go to Changzhou, the Dino Land theme park in town center is a better quality, original park with a new water park.

My earliest memory of Joyland was when my two aunts (teenagers at the time) took me at 4 years old on the roller coaster. I was so scared and I think it was the primary reason I will never, ever, ever, willingly ride a? roller coaster. I remember going at the beginning of every summer and getting free tickets for my report card. I've been gone from Wichita for nearly 30 years but still remember all the fun my family had there. I went by there the other day, just plain sad. Damn arsonists burned down the building that clown and the organ were kept.? I honestly think it is very interesting seeing it abandoned- remind me something out of a movie or something, but very depressing to see a place where childhood memories were made in such a horrible state. I loved to go here as a kid. My Uncle Herb built and maintained many of the rides and my Aunt Doris would sell tickets at Joyland. I? believe Herb Ottaway was the creator of Joyland and, along with other family members and employees, ran the Park for years. Would love to see it up and running in all it's original spendor.

They don't make 'em like this amymore. Bill Tracy was a legend. He had dark rides at Dorney Park, two miles east of me, all gone now, I rode most of them in the 1980's. One of them, bucket O' Blood, a pretzel ride rethemed by Tracy burned down Sept. 28, 1983. Hunt's Pier in Wildwood had a one level Whacky Shack, and Fun Pier had a walk through Crazy House. Both of those are gone, too. But, Ocean City, MD still has the 1964 Haunted House and 1971 Pirate's Cove. Waldameer? has Whacky and Pirate's.

It's funny how the stairs on the way up used to be black light lit, not dark. You could watch the fake ceiling crack. The spider was illuminated. The train sound room had strobes and tinfoil, I'm sure there's more. Then lights would go out I guess and it became just a dark ride? or whatever. And no more train sound.

Somebody in the dark ride community better save this before it's? too late!! Bill Tracy dark rides are rare so as it is!! There's only 9 or 10 left. Even if it has to be dismantled and moved to another park. Bell's Amusement Park in Tulsa, OK was evicted and the rides were dismantled including Phantasmagoria. The stuff for it is in storage. The park was supposed to be rebuilt, including a new Phantasmagoria. The Haunted Castle at Miracle Strip Park, Panama City Beach, FL was saved and rebuilt.

I did switch styles, but the electric playing has really prepared me for some of this believe it or not. I really still like a lot of electric shredders (Satriani, Vai, Lynch, DeMartini, Wilton & DeGarmo, Malmsteen, Van Halen, Bettencourt, Rhodes, Lee, Wylde, Dimebag, Hetfield....and on and? on!) But yeah, this music is so beautiful I switched styles. It's an absolute blast to play and you can chill at a coffee shop without a bunch of pedals and amps and just play over a cup of good coffee.

Seriously, I'd be stealing from Andy if I did that. Since I'm a musician myself, I would hope people wouldn't do that with my material, although I'm sure they would! Honestly, he? sells almost everysong he's done so far (except his new stuff) on his website for 2 bucks ea. They are transcribed by the man himself and of very good quality. You buy the mp3 for a buck and your out $3. He's not making money at this at all! You don't even have to buy the mp3, just listen to youtube ;)

Cool. I've been playing for over 20 years now. I was primarily an electric player but was introduced to this and have been pursuing this style for around 3 years now. I have For My Father down? and and Dreamcatcher. I'm about ready to tackle Africa. I'm also considering the purchase of a Ciluzzi package. Seems that guy doesn't get much credit, but I think his style is incredible. BTW, Detour is awesome!

It's funny how drifting is his most popular song but it's really nowehre near his best. It's more cool to watch than it is to listen to. And thanks for the compliment! I've just been buying candy rat tabs and trying to? teach myself how to play fingerstyle. It's hard, but it's a lot of fun and it's really satisfying when I get something accomplished!

The Album. It's one of the best I've heard ever, period. Not only the best of Mckee, but the? best in acoustic instrumental. Easily right up there with Hedges' Ariel Boundaries. Out of the 12 songs on the record only 2 of them don't captivate me entirely, Nocturne and Drifting. Still good songs, just not on the same level as the others. Just an opinion, Andy is still tops. Your pretty darn good yourself there Rael!

You know the worst part of doing an outstanding album? Trying to top it. What I like about Mckee the most is how he tells stories without saying a word. Having said that, is anyone dealing with the difficulty? of dealing with the fact that nothing he has done since Art of Motion is quite as good? o_O??

I hate that we lost Joyland to people wanting to go when it was? shut down and tear it up. Joyland was a very cool place when I was young to go to and I also remember having some nice times with my children there. I'm 45 and my children are 24, 21, 19 and they have all had good times there. Wichita lost a lot when it shut down I just wish someone that had some money would open it back up.
