This kind of terminology relies on mutual knowledge between people of the subject matter. Nobody likes going to the dentist so obviously the comment will be interpreted as sarcastic. i'm trying to say that Christians are arguably the most emphatic of all, the European civilization proves it (even if some self-critically like to nit pick all the bad and exaggerate still it is incomparable to the rest) . but even for us it's hard to empathize with every bad thing that happens around? the world. contribute locally. . Empathy is very emotionally expensive, if you don't wanna be destabilized and overwhelmed you have to harden- a doctor wont empathize to stay focused. .

I agree in a greater since of? unity, but I think the individual is still very important. Take for instance the Haiti example, yes if you look at it on a one-dimensional level, people acting in self interest would not give toward Haitian relief. However, it is very possible for humans to be pleasure-seeking, utilitarian, and directed by self interest but still follow these principles of empathy. Empathy gives us pleasure when we give. We can be charitable for completely selfish reasons.

So you are accepting the fact that Human Rights are above any cultural moral or ethic values. Anyway i find it difficult to empathize with those actions. I might understand what they feel or think and empathize with that but not with the course of action they take. Those are two different dimensions. I do not condone either act, I find any action that takes a human life to some extent repulsive. And I should clarify that empathy is by far more akin to understanding, than acceptance. My objection goes against dehumanicing these people, who have very real reasons to act in this way? (although misguided). They are not a force truely evil, but think themselves fighting it. Should this be allowed? Is it in any way justified? Of course not. But empathy should be ever present amongst us

What these guys fail to realize is that the main and driving factor behind suicide extremism is the occupation of muslim lands by an invading force. They speak of networks, and people seeking acceptance and stuff, but nobody mentiones the elephant in the room - occupation leads to suicide attacks. Period. The question is not how do we fit children into a future economy, the question is, when will we provide? them examples of frugality, thriftiness, and prudence, right now? Don't worry about the children when your own government is spending itself into the toilet and leaving the burdens to the children. Worry about how you will find some repsonsible adults to take the reins back from the immature jokers in our country's administration.

Emotions aside, acknowledging my poor education as a reason to my financial situation is not an "everyone else's fault" mentality. You want to know the problem today with grade school level children? LAZINESS Laziness in students, laziness in parents. They do not care anymore, and beyond that some? parents are even hostile to anyone, especially educators, who do give a damn and try to get their kids to actually do and learn something.

I believe undeveloped are undeveloped because they haven't got grip on free trade and rule of law. Even China could do much better with some human rights and less corruption. It is the whole package - free trade and people. You cut one you cut both resulting in lesser prosperity. However there will always be some realms poorer than others. Humanitarian aid makes often things worse in the long run and exporting democracy is not easy if even possible. Money represents sum of goods and? services.

Yeah, the known Universe will end one day. Not sure what you mean by water. Resources are finite, that's right. However invention of new ones is best done under capitalism. Once the oil gets too expensive, investment will go elsewhere - it already started. You can hassle it by gov regulation but can prove to be contra productive - we reduce use of fossil fuels too much and will be stuck with them for longer time.Free trade with fair play (gov oversight) aka capitalism is the? best option we have

At first at 1:00 the test is described as "higher the performance, higher the pay" but at 1:40 talking about the same test it has flipped to total opposite "Higher the pay, higher the performance." Weird. I would also like to see the actual test records? to know what it was really about. Though I totally agree with the conclusion that money is a poor motivator in tasks that require creativity.

How was this test done exactly? They reward the high performance with most money, yet ones who got most money had the lowest performance. That cant be technically possible. If you'd just said "higher stakes => more stress" "too much stress => bad performance" It wouldnt have been so suprising. In that light the conclusions are a bit radical. So is this video just misleading in? purpose of manipulation? I have to dislike it due to that.

Already experienced this, even trying one of the most basic, scientifically confirmed, sensible? learning mechanisms (operant conditioning aka reward-based learning) falls apart in complex cognitive skills AKA Math class. No wonder even money fails at getting myself to master that boring-as-hell subject.
