People have premarital sex, people drink alcohol, people have abortion(it is not banned in Turkey), in fact, even prostitution in Turkey is regulated and legal. The definition of modern-day "Turkish" and Turkey is similar to that of American and Canadian identity. It is wholly constitution-based. You can be "Turkish" as long as you are an eligible citizen of Turkey and has been much exposed to the culture, language, and traditions of Turkey. It doesn't mean you have to belong to the archaic idea of what Turkic? is about.
