it? annoys me how people are willing to bend the rules when it suits them. Dont fool yourself, unions are monopolies on labor. They are fixing the wages the same way groups of corporations fix prices. They are preventing competition, therefore they are inefficient.

- In this case, it deals with a sector which faces no competitive pressure overall. There's no limit to how much they can charge and how badly they can underperform. The taxpayer is forced to foot the bill, the children and their parents are still allowed? to attend, and society suffers immensely for it.

The political discourse around unions has to do with state-empowered unions. Unions that can shut down employers by preventing non-union workers from underbidding them, and sometimes by even more overt means. Anti-competitive measures which enrich themselves at the expense of other workers, and more importantly at the? expense of the consumer. -

The right to free speech is to be free to? express your ideas civilly in a public way (nothing about unions) The right to peaceful assemble is to gather in the public as a group (nothing about unions). There is nowhere in the US Constitution that says public employees have a right to form a union.

I have no problem with private sector unions bargaining for pay and benefits. As a taxpayer, I'm not affected. But I DON'T HAVE to buy a GM car. ? However, I HAVE to pay taxes (or risk being incarcerated). Understand the difference? Secondly, Corporations contribute as much, or more, to the Dems as they do to the GOP. Check out General Electric and Jeffrey Immelt, for example. Good day.

Are you implying that corporations and special interest groups do not donate to the GOP in equal proportion. This is a major problem with both parties. But I doubt that people stop buying? GM cars because of their lobbying activities so why should I abandon an organization that is fighting for the rights of the working class.

Haha Stossel has it perfect in Ontario (Canada not Cali) the provincial government told the public unions (teachers) to vote liberal *wink wink* and put out emails thanking everybody in those sectors. It? is the perfect embodiment of a kickback, but in Canada the only kickbacks that get called out are corporate (sometimes?). How do they pay for these big powerful public union incentives? Stupid eco and wage taxes of course. North America funds, exempts, and advertizes failure.

This is a problem for any state. Where I'm? from, Maryland, 15 of the wealthiest counties in the country are with bounds of D.C. A byproduct of all the government jobs. According to the Maryland Reporter, over 5000 state employees earn over 100,000 dollars. Almost two-thirds of them or 3,310 worked for the University of Maryland, which includes the flagship College Park. Coaches and top doctors were the second highest earners and 117 employees in the state police.
